Louis Jugnet, was teacher of philosophy, from 1945 to 1973. He was professor of Première Supérieure, in Lettres Supérieures et de Préparatoire à Saint Cyr, and had a Course at l'Institut d'Études Politiques de Toulouse. He has published several works. Among them: Pour connaître la pensée de Saint-Thomas-d'Aquin [Bordas 1964; Editions Ulysse (Bordeaux) 1979]; Philosophie et biologie. A propos de l'évolutionnisme catholique (1949) [Louis Jugnet Cahiers, Volume 1, Imprimerie Gerbert, Aurillac (Cantal), 1975]; Catholicisme, foi et problème religeux [1951, reprinted 1975]; Problèmes et grands courants de la philosophie, Diffusion de la Pensée française, Chiréen-Montreuil, Vouillé, 1970, reprinted 1974, 1975.

ABOUT THE BOOK

In 1950 Louis Jugnet published Rudolf Allers ou l'anti-Freud. His intention was to make known to french readers the fundamental place Rudolf Allers has in the psychology of the XX century, as well his sound criticism of Freud´s ideas.

In the eighty odd years of the so called experimental psychology, the Aristotelian and Christian science of man has had no stouter champion to defend it on the very soil of its adversaries than Rudolf Allers.

Fortified, through both his psychiatric formal training, his years as psychology professor and his long years of practice as psychotherapist , with a first-hand knowledge of medicine, psychology, psychiatry and phylosophy, he grew to a sound ontological view of man by the same logic of fact that is alleged to turn modern scholarship away from Aristotle and Saint Thomas Aquinas.

Aller´s book on Freud is not all his work. He has other very important contributions to psychology as well as to a realist antrophology. Nevertheless his criticism is very important as he shows in it the mistakes in Freud´s views and formulations. And he does so in a very serious and deep analysis of Freud´s work.

Allers wrote to Jugnet on January 10, 1950, after reading his papers and annotating them: "In the measure that an author can be a judge of his own work, I think that my ideas could not be presented more clearly and concisely in so few lines... your text really does not need to be extended except on the idea of dehumanization that psychoanalysis produces..."
